I’m leaving journalism

Once again, I won’t be following my childhood dreams of being an astronaut and going to Mars. Instead, I’m leaving the field of professional journalism and crossing over to join the Illinois Senate Republican communications staff, aka becoming an “elephant man.”

It goes without saying that I’m excited about this opportunity. It’ll be a refreshing change of pace to apply my skills in a new way, while at the same time being able to absorb more information about how state government functions.

Starting sometime in February, I’ll be working out of the Chicago offices in the Thompson Center, but also will be in Springfield during session days where I’ll be able to chow down on some horseshoes. Yum!

Obviously, I’ll still be blogging here and at my Tumblr blog. I have no intention to stop using either anytime soon. Additionally, I’m slowly working on a few of my own personal projects. And there’s still some resolutions I’m trying to keep up with.

For those wondering why I’ve chosen to leave journalism, I’ll say this for the record: “No comment.”
